Updated: Oct 27, 2021

Rotoprint provide dedicated inhouse labelling and printing services for their customers. They joined our revolution of environmental change, and supply our home compostable film that prints perfectly with their water-based inks. Hear from Rotoprint on their experience with switching over to home compostable films!

We are a family-owned print company based in Burleigh on the Gold Coast. We have been in the label printing business for over 19 years, providing customers in a broad range of industries, including the food, beverage, and health supplements sectors with all of their label and flow-wrap printing solutions. What made you change over to compostable material for your product?

There was a lot of demand for compostable films from our clients. We’ve always done our best to minimise our impact on the environment by working to reduce the amount of waste and printing with water-based inks, so being able to print on home compostable film was a complete game-changer for us. By not just having environmentally-sensitive printing methods, knowing that the packaging itself would not contribute to the increasing landfill really gave us peace of mind.

What made Compost Me’s product the right film for your company?

The film runs extremely well through our printing presses, we are still able to achieve some of the vibrancy in the colours we use, and Compost Me are a local business, so that’s how we knew it was the right choice for us. Have you noticed any difference between packaging with compostable films over plastic films?

The home compostable stock has an uncoated texture, so it’s been a really great point of difference to highlight that it is markedly different from synthetic films and will completely biodegrade.
